Member Information

Our Poles Have Roots

SPEC members share more than electricity. We share the same principles. That’s because SPEC is located in the communities we power and works hard to improve quality of life for all. Discover the power of your membership and all the ways your co-op is committed to your community.

Scholarship

SPEC's scholarship program is available to high school seniors whose parent/legal guardian is a SPEC member and receives service at their primary residence.

Youth Tour

Each year, SPEC sponsors two high school students on the Government-in-Action Youth Tour, a week-long trip to explore and learn in Washington, D.C.

School Safety Demonstrations

We offer an electrical safety demonstration just for kids. The fourth-grade level safety program is designed to promote electrical safety at home and at play.

Annual Members Meeting

The Annual Member Meeting is held the fourth Saturday of September each year. All members are encouraged to attend the meeting and to vote in the Board of Directors Election that precedes it.

Capital Credits

As a member, you’re a part-owner of SPEC and earn a share in the cooperative’s margins, or Capital Credits. These credits are earned in proportion to your energy purchases during the year.

Co-op Connections

This discount card is available to all SPEC members! With it, you can save money on prescriptions, hotels, restaurants, clothing and more!  Local and national deals are available

The best part about being a member of SPEC is just that … it’s your energy cooperative. You have a say in how your local co-op is run, because membership also equals ownership.
