We are owned by the people we serve, so when you sign up for electric service with us, you’re signing up to be a member of our cooperative. And being a member has its perks! Helpful Tips for New Service

New Member with an Existing Line or Meter

If you’re new to the SPEC service area and need to start service at an existing home or business, follow these instructions: 

  • Fill out a Membership Application and return it to San Patricio Electric Cooperative, Inc., PO Drawer 400, Sinton, TX 78387,  Fax to 361-364-3467 or email us.

  • If service is currently disconnected to the meter, you’ll need to know your 911 address to start service. Check here for instructions on how to obtain your 911 address.

  • Ensure a deposit or a letter of credit is on file with the Cooperative, if necessary.

  • Complete a tax exempt form.

  • Contact SPEC at 361-364-2220 or 888-740-2220 to connect your new meter. Please have the location of the new meter available.

New Member and New Line Construction is Needed

If you’re new to the SPEC service area and need to start electric service for a newly constructed home or business, follow these directions:

  • Review the Checklist for New Customers

  • Fill out a Membership Application and return it to San Patricio Electric Cooperative, Inc. by mail: PO Drawer 400, Sinton, TX 78387;  Fax: 361-364-3467 or email.

  • Review and sign the New Service Procedure Sheet

  • Complete a Load Survey Sheet

    • Load Survey - Residential

    • Load Survey - Non-Residential

  • The landowner must complete an Electric Line Easement , which you will obtain from SPEC

  • Follow the instructions on the 911 Address Contacts and Development Permit Contacts form to obtain the appropriate documentation.

  • The right-of-way must be clean & cleared 30' wide.

  • Ensure the construction cost is paid.

  • Confirm that a deposit or a letter of credit is on file with the Cooperative, if necessary.

  • Complete a tax exempt form.

  • Make certain the meter loop is built and at the construction site for inspection. Contact SPEC for the Meter Loop requirements.

After completion of the paperwork is received at the Cooperative and monies are paid, new line construction should take between 2-3 weeks.

We would love your feedback. Once your new lines are set up, please fill out a report card to let us know how the experience was for you.

Existing Member with Existing Line or Meter

If you’re already a San Patricio Electric Cooperative member and need to start electric service at an existing meter, please follow these directions:

  • Complete an additional service request.

  • Contact SPEC at 1-361-364-2220 or 1-888-740-2220 to connect your new meter. Please have available your current account number and the location of the new meter.

  • Ensure a deposit or a letter of credit is on file with the Cooperative, if necessary.

  • Consider adding HaloFlight's Guardian Subscription Plan to your monthly bill for just $1 per month.

Existing Member with New Business

If you are already a SPEC member and have opened a business in our service area, you don't have to start a whole new application for service to your business. Instead, fill out this Additional Service request form.

Stop Service

We're sorry to see you go! Remember, you'll still receive capital credit checks in the future based on your electricity use during your time as a SPEC member. Simply fill out the form below to stop your service, and provide a forwarding address. If you are stopping service for a deceased person or want to transfer your service, please contact us at 361-364-2220 or 888-740-2220 (toll free).
