Join Us at Our Annual Meeting

All News

Calling all members! You are invited to attend SPEC’s Annual Member Meeting on September 26, 2015 at the Bee County Exposition Center in Beeville, Texas.

As a member-owner of SPEC, the annual meeting is a great way to make your voice heard and ask questions of board members and employees. It’s also an opportunity to get up-to-date information on the well-being of your cooperative.

Come early for some extra perks

Although the meeting doesn’t start until 9:30, you may want to head to the expo center a little early. Beginning at 8 a.m. SPEC employee will serve a breakfast of muffins, orange juice, cold drinks and coffee.

There will also be a handful of booths for you to browse. You can learn all about our equipment and how we keep your power on. We will also have information available on the different services we offer and community programs, such as our scholarship and Youth Tour.

This year, SPEC has invited Christus Spohn Health Services to conduct a health fair for its members before the meeting takes place. This service is free to all SPEC members.

The health fair will take place between 8 and 9:30 a.m., so we encourage you to arrive early enough to take advantage of this free opportunity.  Tests being offered include:

  • Blood Pressure
  • Chemical profile (fasting required), which includes glucose/blood work, lipid profile, testing for cholesterol, triglycerides and high- and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
  • Prostate screening (PSA)

To take advantage of the chemical profile you are required to fast eight to 12 hours before the tests. Do not eat or drink anything before the test. You must bring a self-addressed, stamped envelope to leave with the nurse. Your test results will be mailed to you in this envelope.

Don't forget to vote before the annual meeting

The 9:30 a.m. the annual meeting will begin. The purposes of the meeting are to elect directors of the cooperative, consider reports of the affairs of the cooperative and transact any other business that may properly come before the meeting.

Directors will be elected for a three-year term each for Director District 1, Director District 5 and Director District 8.

You must vote by September 21 by mail-in or electronic ballot. No voting will be done at the annual meeting. Members can expect to receive a ballot in the mail on or around September 2nd. If you have an email address on file with SPEC, you will also be emailed a link to vote online.

Stick around for door prizes

Immediately following the annual meeting, we will be drawing for door prizes. We encourage you to stick around as there are plenty of great prizes available, including $1,500 worth of bill credits and gifts from our generous donors!
