It’s nearly time for San Patricio Electric Cooperatives Annual Member Meeting, and we hope to see you there. Each year we gather with our members to share important information about our cooperative, announce the winners of our director election, and to occasionally vote on matters such as changes to our bylaws. You’ll receive a gift bag just for attending and have the chance to win some door prizes as well!
This year, our Annual Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, September 23 at the Bee County Exposition Center in Beeville. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9:30 a.m.
Before the meeting begins, a light breakfast of muffins and beverages will be available. During this time, booths will be set up to showcase the programs and services offered to SPEC members. This gives you a chance to learn more about your cooperative, and visit with some of our employees.
As in years past, a free health fair, conducted by Christus Spohn Health Services, will also be open to you during the registration period. They will offer health screenings at no cost to you, including blood pressure and a chemical profile, as well as optional PSA screenings (prostate-specific antigen). If you plan to get a health screening, please remember to fast for at least 8 hours prior to the event.
Director Election Details
During the business meeting, we will announce the results of our Board of Director’s election. Our cooperative is run by people like you, members of the communities we serve, who are elected to oversee the operation of your cooperative. These directors serve three-year terms, with elections held on a rotating basis.
This year, we have two director districts up for election. The District 2 and District 6 positions will be elected for three-year terms.
To run for a district director position, the candidate must live in the district for which they are running. Full details about the nominating and election process were mailed with our June bills and are available on our website.
Before the annual meeting, you will have the opportunity to vote in our director election by mail or online. You should expect to receive your ballot around September 1. Voting ends at 5 p.m. on September 18.
SPEC is connected to you by more than just power lines. We work to enhance the quality of life for all of our members, doing what we can to make a positive impact in our service area. Your attendance at our annual meeting allows us to listen to and understand the needs of the community we live and work in. We look forward to seeing you at our Annual Members Meeting!
