Save the Date for Your Annual Meeting: September 28

All News

San Patricio Electric Cooperative’s Annual Members Meeting will be held on Saturday, September 28th at the Bee County Exposition Center. And we're taking the event to new heights this year! For the first time ever, your co-op is offering tethered hot air balloon rides at its Annual Meeting.

Free Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides*

Registration will open at 8 a.m. At that time, we'll begin offering free tethered rides on the Touchstone Energy Hot Air Balloon! Rides are first come, first serve and will run for as long as fuel allows and weather permits. (*Note: Balloon rides may be cancelled in certain weather conditions.)

Free Health Screenings

Additionally, SPEC will once again sponsor health screenings at the annual member meeting on September 28. Testing will start at 8 a.m. and will conclude once the business meeting begins.

Tests being offered include:

  • Blood Pressure

  • Chemical profile (fasting required), which includes glucose/blood work, lipid profile, testing for cholesterol, triglycerides and high- and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.

  • Prostate screening (PSA)

To take advantage of the chemical profile, you are required to fast 8- 12 hours before the tests. Do not eat or drink anything before the test. Muffins, orange juice, cold drinks and coffee will be available following your tests.

Also during the registration period, we invite you to visit our employee booths to learn all about your cooperative and the tools we use to serve you every day.

Current Affairs: Get the Scoop on Co-op Business

Our business meeting will begin inside the auditorium at 9:30 a.m.

As a member of the co-op, the annual meeting provides an excellent way for you to exercise your ownership of the cooperative. It gives you the opportunity to speak with co-op employees and board members, to learn more about your cooperative and possibly leave with a great door prize.

During the meeting, the results of the board of director’s election will be announced. We encourage you to make your voice heard by casting a ballot in this election. You will receive your ballot the first week of September. For your convenience, you can vote by mail or online.

The purposes of the meeting are to:

  • Elect directors of the cooperative.
  • Consider reports on the affairs of the cooperative
  • Transact any other business, which may properly come before the meeting.

SPEC Director Election

We’re governed by seven local members, who serve rotating three-year terms on our board of directors. Because our board members live right here in our local area, they have a unique understanding of our local needs and guide the cooperative accordingly.

Each year, we hold an election for our board of directors, with each district up for election once every three years. All members are invited and encouraged to vote in this election. Ballots will be mailed and emailed to all members around the first of September.

This year, SPEC has three director districts up for election: District 1, District 5 and Director-at-Large. A nominee for a district director position must reside within the district for which a director is to be elected. (For example, to run for the District 1 seat you must reside within District 1.) Director-at-Large nominees may permanently reside in any area of the SPEC system. Members in these districts are invited to run for a position on the board of directors.

Details about the election and nominating processes were mailed to our members in June. If you would like to serve on SPEC's Board of Directors or would like to suggest a nominee, please contact any member of the Nominating Committee:
