SPEC Lobby to Reopen July 13

All News

San Patricio Electric Cooperative’s lobby will once again be open to the public beginning Monday, July 13. If you visit our office, please wear a face mask or covering, as outlined in Governor Abbott’s executive order. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please remain at home until your doctor says otherwise. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our employees safe.

SPEC closed its office to the public on June 22 after two employees tested positive for COVID-19. In an effort to prevent further spread of the virus, we asked most of our employees to work from home and continue serving our members by phone and online.

Our line crews continued to respond to power outages, while also taking extra safety measures to protect their health. We continue to ask that you also keep their health in mind and maintain at least 6 feet of distance. When you see our employees working in the field, please limit physical contact as recommended by health officials. A friendly wave is preferred to a handshake.

Although we’re pleased to open our lobby to the public again, we would like to remind you that you can continue to do business with the co-op without entering the facility.

  • Outages can be reported by phone, through SmartHub and via text. We are responding to outages and emergencies in our service area and will continue to do so.

  • As always, payments can be made online, by phone, through the mail or at the drop box outside our office.

  • You can access your account online through SmartHub, where you can view your electricity use history, update your contact information and change your communication preferences. You can also continue to call us for assistance regarding your SPEC account.

  • On our website, we have a wealth of information including online membership applications, meter loop diagrams, tax exempt forms and more.

In our office we are following all recommended health protocols to keep our employees safe as they return to work, which includes providing face masks, hand sanitizer and disinfectant. All employees will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms each morning before entering our facilities, they will be asked to wash or sanitize their hands every time they enter the office building and to regularly disinfect their work area or truck.

To protect members visiting our office, we will clean and disinfect public surfaces in our lobby and consultation room regularly throughout the day. We ask that you maintain the recommended distance of 6 feet from our employees and other members in our lobby, and out in the field.

We acknowledge that this situation may continue to evolve over the coming weeks and months. We will regularly evaluate any measures necessary to protect our employees and members, while continuing to serve you.
